Edna's Apple Crisp


CRUST

2-1/2 cups flour

2 Tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup shortening

2 eggs yolks, plus milk to 2/3 cup

Mix these to form dough.



1/2 cup crushed corn flakes

6 apples, sliced


Combine:

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

dash salt


2 beaten egg whites (not terribly stiff)


DIRECTIONS

Divide dough in half. Roll bottom crust and spread into a flat pan,

(like jelly roll pan.)

Sprinkle crust with 1/2 cup crushed corn flakes.

Add apples, sprinkle on sugar/cinnamon/salt mixture.

Put on top crust.

Spread egg whites over top crust. Cut slits for steam to escape.


Bake at 400 degrees F. for 1/2 hour.
