Ingredients
CRUST
2-1/2 cups flour
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
2 eggs yolks, plus enough milk to equal 2/3 cup liquid
FILLING
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
dash salt
1/2 cup crushed corn flakes
6 apples, sliced
2 egg whites, beaten (not terrible stiff)
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400F
Mix the five crust ingredients together to form dough. Divide dough in half.
Start filling by combining sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a small bowl.
Assembly
Roll out bottom crust and spread into a flat pan - like jelly roll pan.
Sprinkle crust with the crushed corn flakes.
Add sliced apples, sprinkle on sugar/cinnamon/salt mixture.
Place top crust over filling. Spread egg whites over top crust. Cut slits for steam to escape.
Bake for 30 minutes.
